Gary Steiner is Professor of Philosophy at Bucknell University, Lewisburg PA, US. From 2005 to 2015 he was John Howard Harris Professor of Philosophy, and from 2016 to 2019 Presidential Professor of Philosophy.
Gary Steiner studied at Santa Clara University School of Law and University of California, Berkeley (ΒΑ), and holds a Ph.D. from Yale University (Dissertation: The Idea of a Ground for Ethical Commitment in Descartes and Heidegger).
His fields of expertise are Modern Philosophy (especially Descartes), 19th and 20th century Continental Philosophy, and the moral status of animals.
